If you’ve ever found yourself walking on eggshells around your spouse or partner, perhaps you’re in a-delicate-ship versus a relationship.
Or, you’re at the Something, Something Theater Company in Tucson when one of Anna Ziegler’s plays, A Delicate Ship, is performed under the direction of founding artistic director Joan O’Dwyer. As Kevin and I walked out of the Pima County Public Library, we passed a vendor with an open cart of books and a sign for a city program that sponsors the book giveaway. As a man got his free book stamped and Kevin was talking about how great the library and things like this are, my eye caught two books that interested me. (Captions of pictures show up if you click on the picture to enlarge them.)
A week ago, we moved from the foothills to a new rental that is within walking distance of downtown Tucson, which for us has a library and a YMCA that we already frequent.
Suzanne Chapman appropriates copyright-free images, and uses "any material I can find" to create the pieces here. Titled "The Cleaner." Suzanne said her work is about the cycle of life and reclaiming its beauty, but this one always brought to mind the idea of "always cleaning up," perhaps from a parent's point of view. I also always saw the evolutionary ape to human icon when I focused on the arc of the three roadrunners themselves. We said goodbye to our first hosts yesterday, and went from staying in a contemporary environment near the Saguaro National Forest (stove, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and every conceivable kitchen utensil) to an apartment unit in downtown Tucson that was built in 1907.
